Virtual Reality Toolkit

The aim of this toolkit is to showcase how Virtual Reality can be used to assist people with disabilities. In DDSkills, the technical partners cooperated with experts in autism from the consortium to create a VR application to teach road safety to people with autism.

The Toolkit requires Oculus Rift S or Oculus(meta) Quest VR headsets and a compatible VR ready PC.

When the equipment is setup and the app is loaded, the beneficiaries, wearing the VR headsets found themselves in a modern city where they have to reach a destination designated with arrows. The goal is to learn to use traffic light buttons, how to pass a zebra crossing without a traffic light, that they have to be careful for vehicles moving in the streets, etc.
